Third Weekly Task - Usability Evaluation

For the third weekly task we needed to go to the web-site of Osuuspankki

This was a mobile version of the net-bank (eBank) and we needed to evaluate of the service. To get familiar with the net-bank of OP, we did a couple of different transactions, like money transfer and stock purchase.

Finally, our group made evaluation of the net-bank using the System Usability Scale. You can see the results below, represented by images and written feebacks.

Enjoy!

"The service is very useful when you want to do some banking, but you have no chance to go the actual bank. The interface for a PDA is clear and navigation seems to be easy. Comparing to other net-banks (Nordea NetBank for eg.) OsuusPankki has some more features, like stock purchasing. In my opinion, an average Internet user can work with this net-bank and doesn't need any special insturctions, except those, provided within the service."

"In some points this testing web paged is too complicated to use. Many strange statements that can ravel the visitor of this site. Also there are only three languages for the visitors. Also a bit difficult interface of purchasing products is one of disadvantages of this page. It’s easier to find product on another web page and just insert you bank account information then to do it through the given Ebank web page. Every member of our group tested this web page on his own. So everybody got different results in System usability scale (SUS)."

"The net-bank helps alot nowadays and makes our lives easier. In our case, OsuusPannki provides all the main functions like payments and money transfers. But the new features are messaging (which makes it more interactive) and equity trading are really useful for business people. Interface is so basic that I think it's even too "basic" for today's mobile devices. At last, the instructions are way to brief, they should be more clear, because some people need more help due to lack of Internet usage knowledge, for example."

"The site design is too simple for tempted user, but as it offers services the main is usability. It is quite convenient to use the site but I have little experience using such services so it was quite difficult for me to start working with it. I wasted much time trying to log in somehow. Checking how much money I have on an account called Testipäätili was not that difficult. First I had problems trying to pay the bill but after examining the interface understood that it was mainly because of my lack of experience. Then it was easy to purchase two Nokia stocks using round lot method. All in all, this web-site seems to me inappropriate to modern standards and too difficult for a new user. But at the same time it is quite easy to use once you spent some time studying the interface and level of usability is high."

Conclusion

SUS has proved to be a valuable evaluation tool, being robust and reliable. SUS system has been made freely available for use in usability assessment, and has been used for a variety of research projects and industrial evaluations.
